Let’s Talk Literature!

Hey guys! I know that I haven’t done a book review in a loooonnnnnng time, but now that I’m reading a new novel and the title isn’t Nancy Drew, I will definitely be doing one in the near future! By the way, if anyone has read Legend, let me know what you thought of it down in the comments. I’m enjoying it so far! Anyways, now it’s time to Talk Literature! Seeing as Legend takes place in a futuristic California, I thought it would be fitting for this week’s prompt to focus on dystopian fiction. Just like it takes something special to sell a 56 book series, it also takes a good writer to create a world of torn nations, advanced technologies, and messed up societal hierarchies (praise to Suzanne Collins!). Marie Lu does a really great job of doing just that with her awesome description of the setting and characters. This leads into the prompt….

What is your favourite dystopian novel?

Hmmph, I just searched up the definition of “dystopian”, and it learned that it describes a world where seemingly everything is bad. I thought that dystopias had to take place in the future. This may effect my answer…..

Nope. I’m still going with The Hunger Games! I love this book because of the way that Suzanne Collins really transported me into Panem, and by the end of the book, I felt like I had known Katniss my whole life. The story line was great as well, and it started off with just enough background information about the Capitol, the Hunger games, and Katniss’ childhood to be informative but not boring. The rest of the novel was equally as fast-paced and exciting, and I never wanted to put it down!

What’s your favourite dystopian novel? Let me know in the comments section, and keep your eyes open for that book review!
