January 2020 Bullet Journal Set-Up

Hey guys! 2020 is only a day away and I finally have my January set-up finished! I think my New Years resolution is going to be to post these set ups earlier so that you actually have time to incorporate some ideas into your own journals😂

My theme this month is sort of an Art-Deco 1920’s vibe, using black and gold, that I saw on AmandaRachLee’s YouTube channel. I love the idea of starting off the 2020s with a 1920s design, plus the black and gold colours remind me of New Years. I used a lot of AmandaRachLee’s design this month, but I did use quite a few of my own elements and layouts as well. Pinterest has a ton of Art Deco design inspiration, so definitely look there if you need ideas for patterns and fonts!

I do want to do some things differently this year- mainly switch up my writing style and play around with trackers. I feel like I’ve been using the same font every month (I may be a little calligraphy obsessed), so this year I want to try some different ones. I also want to experiment with different styles of trackers, since I used the same model all throughout last year.

With that, let’s get into my January set-up and my last post of the year!

This is my title page! I created a bunch of geometric designs using a gold gel pen. To capture the Art Deco vibe, there’s lots of diamonds and a fancy border. On the opposite page I used some black paper and a metallic gold marker to make a quote page.

Next is my calendar spread. This is something that I kept the same as last year, because it worked really well for me. I used some more black paper for a goals and focus section. Here, I’ll write things that I want to accomplish this month and something that I want to focus on.

Here’s where I switched things up! Instead of having a grid habit tracker, I’m going to try out having individual habit trackers and crossing off the day when I complete each habit. It’s a lot more work to set up, but we’ll see if I prefer this style or not. For my mood tracker, I drew another Art Deco design and left it empty so that each day I can fill a space in with a different paterm to represent a certain mood.

I enjoy writing down a few things that I’m grateful for each day, so I kept the gratitude log in my journal. Next I have a page to plan my Instagram and blog posts. The designs and borders I used are the same throughout, to keep it consistent.

My final page is my first weekly spread;) I tried to draw the numbers in an Art Deco font, and I think this page turned out well! On the opposite side I drew another quote page that I’ll share later on Instagram😉

There’s my first monthly set-up of 2020! How you liked it and I’ll see you in the new year!

2020 Bullet Journal Set-Up

Hi guys! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! My favourite gift was a brand new bullet journal, in a gorgeous olive green! I’m going with the Leuchttrum 1917 journal again, as I really liked it last year. It has 251 pages (I get two extra since last year they made them with 249!) which is great because I like to have 20 pages per month, plus more at the beginning of the year. I found that the pages were a good size and weight, and it also has a pocket at the back which is handy. I wrote 2020 on a bit of washi tape and stuck it on the front for a bit of decoration.

I absolutely love my 2020 set up, I used black, white, grey and a silvery green to go with the olive branch design that I printed out and used in many of the spreads. Everything is fairly simple and pretty;) The pens I used to create it were my tombow fudenoske brush pen, a white gel pen, a zebra mild liner and some crayola super tips markers, which are my favourite;)

If you’re just starting to bullet journal, I recommend buying only a few pens and markers, nothing too fancy, and crayola super tips are awesome because there’s five million colours, they’re cheap and work for calligraphy and doodling. You can also check out my past two yearly set ups; 2018 and 2019, but I’ll try to be very descriptive in this post.

Bullet journaling is a big part of my life now, and if you have a notebook and a pen then I suggest you try it out! It’s a great way to be artistic and to include a bunch of mental health and journaling activities into your life. It also helps you to plan and manage your time more effectively. There are tons of great resources online that you can use to help you; one YouTube channel that inspired me to start and still inspires me now is AmandaRachLee. Her doodles are beautiful and her videos are super easy to follow, so if you need some additional ideas go ahead and check out her channel! Otherwise, here’s my 2020 bullet journal set-up;))

I started with a key and a title page. This key lays out the symbols and colours that I’ll use throughout the year to mark certain tasks and events. The only change I made from last year was that I added a symbol for “task half complete” because I found myself only completing tasks halfway and then not knowing what to do😬 My title page is waaay simpler than last year (ew when I typed waaay it auto corrected to essay). I might add some washi tape to it but I like the way it turned out.

These two spreads are my future log. Here I’ll write down events so that I can plan my year before I complete each monthly spread. Once I have a full calendar set up for each month then I can transfer all of the events into that, and then from my monthly calendar into a weekly spread. I kept there spreads simple as well, using a grey marker to write out the months and only putting in hints of green.

Here’s my goals page, which I split into four different sections. There are so many ways to organize a page like this, so get creative! Opposite I have a “this year” spread, where I’ll write some things that I’d like to do in 2020.

Both of these pages are something new from last year- instead of having a vision board and a mantra page, which I didn’t really use, I included a spot to write down “20 things to do in 2020”, as well as a blog ideas page.

For the final two pages of my set-up, I included an “about me” page and a quote page.

That’s all for my 2020 set-up! I hope you liked it and gathered some inspiration for your own journal;) My January Set-Up will be up soon!

Yours Truly,

MyDayIsBooked;)

December Bullet Journal Set Up with November Monthly Recap

Hey guys! I apologize for the late post… this week was a little crazy for me😂😂 However, I’m really happy with the way that my December spreads turned out. I’m coming to the end of my journal, which by the way is the first notebook that I’ve ever filled up completely! This month I went with some classic Christmas designs like evergreen boughs and mistletoe, and tried to keep it simple since I feel like my last few spreads have been a bit busy. Green is the main colour that I used, but there are also some red accents thrown in. Creating my December spread really got me excited for the holiday season! This year I decided to include the advent calendar that I make each year in my bullet journal, and I love the way it turned out. Hope you like it!

My monthly recaps haven’t really changed throughout the whole year. I didn’t use a ton of scrapbook paper in this one to keep it a bit simpler.

This is my December title page!! I alternated drawings of evergreen boughs, mistletoe and bare tree branches. I used my black brush pen to write the month to keep things simple and classic looking. On the opposite page my quote is “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”, because I love the joy that Christmas time brings.

Here’s my calendar spread for December;) It’s pretty simple but I did add a space to blog plan along with my goal tracker. I might need to designate a whole page for blogging though because I have some big ideas for the Christmas season!

Next, my habits and mood trackers, both of which haven’t changed much throughout the year because I find them easy to fill out and they really work for me. I might experiment a bit next year with different types.

Annnnnd the most exciting spread of the month, my advent calendar! Last year I posted a tutorial on how to create a DIY No Candy Advent Calendar, and this one is pretty much a mini version of that. I created little pockets for each day of the month and stuck a note with an act of kindness that needs to be completed in each. I’m so excited to get started with it!

My last spread is a gratitude log/weekly spread since I ran out of space;)) I have a feeling that this month I’m going to have to do a lot of one-page weekly spreads because I want to include things like a gift list and blog planner in my journal.

That’s my last bullet journal set up post of the year! I absolutely love bullet journaling because it allows me to reflect on my life and express my creativity, not to mention plan ahead and track mood and habits and all sorts of stuff. It’s so fun to look back on all of my spreads from the past year and see what was happening or what I was feeling at the time. I’m really excited for a new journal in 2020 and to try out new things and have more fun!

As a side note, I will be posting three times a week during December…… lots of Christmasy posts are soon to be coming your way!

Yours Truly,

November Bullet Journal Set-Up with October Monthly Recap

Hi guys! I’m super excited for this month’s theme, and had sooo much fun setting it up! I’m doing poppies, and using a couple different shades of red. However, I’m going for more of a scrapbookish look, since I found an amazing paper pad with tons of poppy designs in it. Hope you like it!

Here’s my October Monthly Recap. The gold is just so pretty and compliments everything really well;))

So this is my title page for November! I hand drew a lot of poppies, but cut some out from my paper pad as well. I also used some washi tape and a ripped-paper effect for extra pizazz.

My calendar spread turned out super pretty as well;) I used paper on the corners this time, so that looks cool. I’m also loving the look of writing on white paper and cutting it out to paste it in my journal.

This really cool black and white poppy paper is a feature in my trackers section! I LOVE IT! I’m also doing something different for my mood tracker this month; I’ll be using a bar graph format. The higher the bar, the better my mood.

I decided that I did need a blog planner next to my gratitude log;) It will help me stay more organized when it comes to posting.

I only included two days in my first weekly spread, so I covered the other half of the page with more poppy paper. I’ll probably turn the page opposite this one into a quote page.

That’s all for now! I love how these spreads turned out, and I’m having lots of fun playing around with my pretty papers and washi tapes. See you later!

October Bullet Journal Set-Up with September Monthly Recap

Hi guys! I figured that it was about time to post my October bullet journal set-up, considering that it’s the last day of September;) My October theme is magic, but not Harry Potter style magic, more of a crystal ball, full moon kind of magic. I used two shades of purple, as well as metallic gold and silver gel pens for the magical sparkles that are scattered around the pages. I’m super glad with the way that this month turned out, especially because my calligraphy is on point! I also got to use a bunch of cute quotes about the future this month. Do you know how hard it is to find quotes about the ocean that are cute and not too long? Really hard! Also, drawing waves on every page last month was a little time consuming, even if it looked really pretty. Anyways, here’s my October set-up;)))

This is my monthly recap;)) I’m going to miss the blues!

This is my October title page! The focal point is the crystal ball, around which I drew some really cute magical doodles. I used a can of chickpeas to trace a perfect circle for the crystal ball- chickpeas are just awesome in every way! The gold, silver and purple work really nicely together on this page and my writing turned out great:)))

I messed up the order of the days on the calendar, so I had to black them out and rewrite them in silver. But it’s okay, it looks good that way! I decided not to include a blog planner this month, because I found I wasn’t using it. Although I did keep my goals section and write a good quote.

One thing that I haven’t changed this year is my habit tracker, and that’s because I just find it very easy to look at and use. However, I do like playing around with my mood trackers, and this month I used a crystal ball format. I’m also really into the look of drawing a border around my pages; I just think it lends something interesting to the spread.

Next, as per usual, is my gratitude log and quote page. Crystal balls are the focal point of both;) The future is bright, my friends!

Finally, here’s my first weekly spread of the month. I’ve actually never done a spread like this before, but I saw one like it on AmandaRachLee’s youtube channel, and so I thought I’d give it a try. It looks so good! And I love the amount of space that it gives me to plan my week!

That’s my set-up for October! It’s hard to believe that I only have three more months left with this journal. I’ve been loving the Leuchtturm 1917 journal because it has just the right amount of smooth, good sized pages, two book marks and a pocket in the back. Plus, it’s pretty reasonably priced. I think that I’m going to use another one of these next year as well. Have a good week you guys!

Yours Truly,

MyDayIsBooked;))))
