Chocolate PB Banana Energy Balls

Hi peoples! If you love chocolate, peanut butter, and bananas as much as I do, then these energy balls are going to be your new favourite snack!! They’re healthy, chewy, and most importantly, delicious! This recipe is super simple and easy to double or even triple if you love them as much as I do;) Take a peek down below for the ingredients and instructions!

Ingredients (makes 8 balls)

  • 2 bananas
  • 1/3 cup all natural peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup oat flour (made from grinding oats in a dry blender)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mash the bananas in a large bowl. Add in the cocoa powder and peanut butter and mix until combined.
  3. Stir in the oats and oat flour. Oat flour is super easy to make- just throw some oats in a blender and grind them up! I like it because it’s more nutritious than regular flour. Once all of your ingredients are combined, the “dough” should look something like this:
  4. Roll the mixture into balls by the tablespoon full and put them on a pan lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake for about 15 minutes, then remove and let cool before storing them in an airtight container in the fridge.

And thee you have it! Eat a few of these after school, for breakfast, or in between sports. You won’t believe that there’s no added sugar!

Let’s Talk Literature!

Hey guys! I know that I haven’t done a book review in a loooonnnnnng time, but now that I’m reading a new novel and the title isn’t Nancy Drew, I will definitely be doing one in the near future! By the way, if anyone has read Legend, let me know what you thought of it down in the comments. I’m enjoying it so far! Anyways, now it’s time to Talk Literature! Seeing as Legend takes place in a futuristic California, I thought it would be fitting for this week’s prompt to focus on dystopian fiction. Just like it takes something special to sell a 56 book series, it also takes a good writer to create a world of torn nations, advanced technologies, and messed up societal hierarchies (praise to Suzanne Collins!). Marie Lu does a really great job of doing just that with her awesome description of the setting and characters. This leads into the prompt….

What is your favourite dystopian novel?

Hmmph, I just searched up the definition of “dystopian”, and it learned that it describes a world where seemingly everything is bad. I thought that dystopias had to take place in the future. This may effect my answer…..

Nope. I’m still going with The Hunger Games! I love this book because of the way that Suzanne Collins really transported me into Panem, and by the end of the book, I felt like I had known Katniss my whole life. The story line was great as well, and it started off with just enough background information about the Capitol, the Hunger games, and Katniss’ childhood to be informative but not boring. The rest of the novel was equally as fast-paced and exciting, and I never wanted to put it down!

What’s your favourite dystopian novel? Let me know in the comments section, and keep your eyes open for that book review!

March Monthly Recap

Happy Wednesday! Today I’m going to share my March Monthly Recap with you- if you missed my Title page and Layout you can find them here. Just like the rest of my March journal, I’m keeping it pretty simple and similar to my January and February Set-ups. I stuck with my cactus theme and green colour scheme. Take a look!

I made a bit of a mistake when drawing the rectangle that surrounds the words “Monthly Recap”, and tried to cover it by using a thicker marker, although it didn’t really turn out how I would’ve liked it to. But that’s ok; these kinds of things help me to learn to let go of the stuff I can’t fix! Otherwise, though, I’m pretty happy with everything else, especially my cute little cactuses;)

And guess what….

That’s going to make me smile every time I read it! See you later!Next time I post, it will be an awesome recipe;)

March Bullet Journal Set-Up

Ok, I know I might be jumping the gun a little on this post because there’s still over week of February left, but I’m just really excited about March! Simplicity is key for this month, as I’m beginning to find out what works for me in a bullet journal. Let’s get right into my  set-up- I can’t wait to show it to you guys!!!!!

Here’s my title page! I’ve gone with a cactus theme in March for three reasons: 1- I feel like cactuses (or is it cacti?) are kind of trendy right now. 2- I think cactuses ( I;m going to go with cactuses) are cute. 3- I need an excuse to incorporate the quote “go sit on a cactus” somewhere in my layout. Cactuses are also green, which make them perfect for March, because when I think of March I think of new buds on trees, grass, and St.Patrick’s Day, all of which have to do with green. Drawing theses succulents was super easy, I found some clipart on Pinterest that I used as inspiration.

Ok fine, maybe I copied the cactuses straight from the image. My definition of inspiration may be different than some peoples’. Anyways, this page is super simple but cute at the same time, which makes it a winner in my opinion. Underneath my quote for March, which is “Let Spring Begin”, I stuck with my usual mini calendar and a space for my March events and goals. This has worked for me in the past, so I’m sticking with it. One thing that’s important in bullet journaling is definitely the fact that you need to include what works for you, not what’s in your friend’s journal or what you saw on that awesome book/healthy eating/ bullet journaling blog for teens (what? I can do a little self-promo if I want to!). The point is, don’t feel pressured to keep up with the Joneses when it comes to bullet journaling.

My weekly layout is basically the same as February’s, I just tweaked a few small things. First of all, for each day I drew a kind of tumble-weed cactus thingy instead of the date and wrote the abbreviation for the day of the week on it. This is just a nice change up, and it looks kind of cool. I still included the date on the other side, however, because I want to keep track of that. I also put in a To-Do list instead of a Brain-Dump, because I found that my brain didn’t really need to do a lot of dumping. Other than those minuscule changes, I stuck with the cactus theme and kept most of my elements from February.

That’s all for now folks! I will be sharing my Monthly Recap page later this week, so be on the lookout for that, and I also have a great recipe that I want to post soon. Thanks for reading and see ya later!
