April 2019 Bullet Journal Set-Up with March Monthly Recap

Hello again! I hope that everyone’s spring break was fun;) I actually felt pretty productive; I went for a run almost every day for some early track and field training and completed my April bullet journal set-up, which I’ll share with you in this post. Like pretty much every other month, I had some trouble coming up with a theme for April. But I finally ended up drawing inspiration from Hungarian embroidery. If you’ve never seen it, here’s what it looks like:

I’m part Hungarian, and so these kinds of patterns remind me of Easter, which happens to fall in April this year. The flowers are also very springy and give me an opportunity to use a bajillion different colours in my spreads, which is a good thing;) They do take a little while to draw though because of all the details, so some of my spreads are a bit more minimalistic because I didn’t want to draw a ton of flowers. In the end I was really happy with the way this turned out, and I hope you get some inspiration from today’s post!

We’ll start with my March monthly recap- I don’t think anything changed here. I’m going to miss the simplicity of drawing emeralds, but I’m excited for my new theme.

My title page probably took me the longest to draw out of all my spreads this month, but I think it looks pretty good. I drew a wreath around the word April and some more flowers in the corners of the page. The quote I chose is “let your joy burst forth like flowers in spring”, which I feel embodies this theme well.

Here I have my calendar. You can kind of see what I mean when I say minimalistic here, because I only drew two flower wreaths and there’s quite a bit of empty space. But you know what, that’s ok. Sometimes less is more.

My mood and habit trackers didn’t change much. I drew some flowers on either side of my habit tracker so they look more like embroidery. My mood tracker consists of a flower wreath, and each day I’ll colour in a flower, with the colour corresponding to the legend at the bottom. I used a lot of different colours this month, but my two main ones are a kind of coral colour and a nice yellow. I use these two colours the most throughout my spreads.

On the left is my gratitude log, and on the right is what I call my flex page. I do different things on this page depending on what I need that month. There’s a lot going on for me in April in terms of sports, so I decided to draw out an activity schedule so I know where I have to be at what time. I also included another quote on this page.

And finally my first weekly spread of the month. Nothing too crazy here.

Why I Journal plus 10 Journaling Prompts

Hi guys;) I’m this post I wanted to share why I journal, and I don’t mean bullet journaling. I mean sitting down and writing about how you feel and what’s going on in your life.

Journaling really helps me to know where I’m at. Releasing all of the thoughts in my head onto paper kind of organizes my mind and makes me reflect on what’s going on and what my next steps should be.

In my bullet journal I tend to do two reflections per month; one in the middle of the month and one at the end of the month. Some people journal every day or every week, but I’ve found that that’s what works for me. You should journal whenever you feel overwhelmed or you feel like you need to reflect on anything. I usually just write down whatever’s in my head at the moment, but sometimes I need a little nudge to get me started. Down below are ten journal prompts that you can use. Remember, like bullet journaling, there’s no right or wrong way to journal. Write whatever you need to, whenever you need to.

  1. How are you feeling right now? Why are you feeling this way?
  2. What could you do to make yourself feel better?
  3. What are three things that you’re grateful for in this moment?
  4. List five things that you love about yourself.
  5. Think ahead to the person you want to become in five years. If that person saw you now, what do you think they would say? What can you do right now to become that person?
  6. Make a list of the things that make you happy.
  7. In the past week, what have you done for others? What have you done for yourself? Which do you need to do more of?
  8. What can you improve on in your life right now? What are some things you’re doing right?
  9. What is something that you could do to bring you closer to your goals? Write something for today, this week, this month and this year.
  10. What’s something to look forward to in your life?

March 2019 Bullet Journal Set-Up (with February Monthly Recap)

Hi;)) I was originally going to post my March bullet journal set-up next week, but then I was like hey, it might be nice to post it a bit earlier so you guys actually have time to incorporate any ideas you like into your bullet journals! For the month of March I really wanted to do a green theme, so I decided on emeralds;) They’re really easy to draw and there’s so many different shapes you can use to keep things interesting. I used three different shades of green- a fairly light one, more of an emerald one, and a dark one. I hope you like my spreads!

Oh yeah, I wanted to quickly show you guys my February monthly recap. It’s exactly the same as January’s because I’m liking the way that it works for me. My favourite part of it is the monthly memories section- I love to paste pictures of the highlights of my month in there! I highly recommend implementing one into your journal.

Here we go with March. The title page is fairly simple, I just drew a bunch of different shapes and sizes of emeralds, and I wrote March in all caps because I’ve been doing a lot of calligraphy lately and wanted to switch things up;) On the left is a quote page, again surrounded by emeralds. I love the look of the simple handwriting I used, so I want to try and use that throughout this month.

This is my calendar. I wanted it to be more open and minimalistic this month, so I didn’t draw many lines in it! But I think it looks neat and we’ll see how it goes. There are some more emeralds in the background and of course some space for my goals and planning blog posts.

I didn’t change anything up with my habit tracker since I find it easy to fill out, but I did play around with my mood tracker. There’s a different emerald for each day, and I’ll colour it in according to my mood. Lighter green for happy and darker green for sad/mad.

And finally my gratitude log. Nothing too fancy going on here. I did however turn the last page before my first weekly spread back into a quote page, because I found that I can track my workouts on a week to week basis, and I didn’t use the brain dump as much as I thought I would. My calligraphy wasn’t on point for the quote, but I love the border of emeralds.

February 2019 Bullet Journal Set-Up (With January Monthly Recap)

Hi again! After much careful consideration, I was able to come up with a fun bullet journal theme for February. I wanted to do something a little different than roses or hearts, but still related to Valentine’s day. So this month my theme is Hot Air Balloons! I think that hot air balloons are pretty romantic so it fits in with the whole love thing. They’re easy to draw but you can have a ton of fun with different patterns. My January monthly recap is also featured in this post, and it looks a little different from the ones I did last year due to the fact that I have more space, so I’m pretty excited about that too. Let’s get into my spreads!

Here we have my January Recap/Memories/Reflection. I wanted space to really reflect at the end of the month about what’s going on in my life, and also somewhere to paste any cool pictures of events that went on. The monthly recap section is similar to last year’s, but I added some things like workout progress and a space to write down which books I read, because I didn’t add it in at the beginning of my journal. Looking back, I might need to expand that in the future because I read, like, a lot of books. So yeah, I guess I’ll see how that goes and I might tweak it a bit in February.

Here’s my title page;) I love the way it turned out because it’s so bright and airy and feminine, which is cute for February. In addition to drawing a few hot air balloons, I also included some simple clouds and birds to fill the empty space. The colours that I used are a light pink marker and my light blue zebra mildliner. My quote for the month is “Oh, The Places You’ll Go”, which fits the hot air balloon theme and reminds me that this month I want to be more adventurous.

This is my calendar layout- I apologize for all of the blacked-out events. I always forget to take a picture of my spreads before I write in them! Anyways, I continued the clouds, birds and balloons in this spread, but in the background so that it looks like the calendar is floating in the sky. I also gave myself a bigger space to write my goals and plan blog posts, because I almost ran out of space last month.

These are my trackers for the month. I kept my habit tracker the same, because I find it quick to draw and it works pretty well for me. I switched up my mood tracker a bit though; every day I’ll colour in a portion of the balloon according to the legend on the side. Light pink means I was really happy and dark blue means I had an off day. I tried to make these two spreads cohesive and look like they’re in the same sky, and I think it worked well.

Here’s my gratitude log, which also didn’t change much from last month. On the opposite side, however, I made space for a Workout Tracker and Brain Dump. It’ll be nice to keep track of the weight that I’m squatting, pressing and curling, and also which days that I did cardio. As for the brain dump, last month felt like I needed to write random things down, so I decided to try it. I might move to a full page next month if I need more room.

And lastly my first weekly spread. Because I have the space I decided to only do two days in this spread so that I can start on a Sunday the following week. On the right is a quote page that says, “Once you have tasted the taste of sky, you will forever look up.” from Leonardo Da Vinci.

January 2019 Bullet Journal Set-up

It’s 2019 tomorrow! Time to get ahead on planning and goal setting for the new year! My theme for January- stars and constellations- is one that I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I was really excited to set up this first month because I have so much room- 20 pages! This means no more cramped weekly spreads and much more experimentation;)

I searched up some constellations that are in our sky right now, and included those on my title page along with some stars. On the opposite page I have a quote and yet more stars. You’re going to see a lot of stars in this post! I used three different yellow markers here, as well as my black brush pen and fineliners.

Like I said, I went a little crazy with the stars! My monthly layout is one thing I kept the same as last year. However, I added a small blog post planner on the side. I think that my calligraphy has really improved from last year, and so you’ll see me do a lot more of it in 2019.

Next, I have my mood and habit trackers, which I could use two pages for! While my habit tracker is a simple grid, I tried something different with my mood tracker. Each day I’ll draw a star hanging from a string, and the longer the star, the happier I was that day.

Here’s my gratitude log. I have a whole page for it! There’s also a quote page that leads into my first weekly spread.

My first weekly spread is simple but pretty. I drew more stars and constellations, as well as writing out a quote and word of the week. I have a to-do section in there as well. I plan to use some black paper in my next few spreads, because my silver gel pen really stands out on it.
